The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) launched an opinion letter program to assist workers and employers with compliance. The program aims at providing clearer guidance on federal labor laws by offering written opinions on how enforcement applies to specific workplace situations. There are five federal agencies participating:

  • Employee Benefits Security Administration
  • Wage and Hour Division
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration
  • Veterans’ Employment and Training Service
  • Mine Safety and Health Administration

While the guidance provided can be a valuable tool in identifying potential areas of non-compliance, it’s important to note that DOL opinion letters are not legally binding. The Firm recommends using these opinion letters as a reference point but encourages consulting legal counsel for any specific compliance concerns or disputes.
